Form Design

Some really informative (no pun intended!) articles and a great reference for anyone designing or evaluating the usability of forms by Jessica Enders of Formulate. Perception and the design of forms:

And last, but by no means least: Spaz is an unacceptable term.

Awkward interpreting moments

I arrived at the office today to find this Youtube video in my inbox. It really made me laugh as it reminded me of some of funny situations I'd been in when I was an Auslan interpreter years ago.

One of the funnier ones was when I found out during a job I was interpreting at that the rat 'problem' in the share house had been getting better and that the residents were "pretty sure" the rat in the couch (upon which I sat) had moved out!

The point of this very funny video below is that Deaf people should have access to interpreters whenever required in order to participate equally in the work place... The thing that really made me laugh most is that the interpreter really is working as an interpreter should (except for the law-breaking element).

If you found this funny you may also enjoy, Coming Out, which I blogged about last year.

User Experience for Start-ups

This is just a short 15 minute podcast on User Experience for Start-ups I was invited to make with Bronwen for Pollenizer a few weeks ago. I'm slowly typing up the transcript and will upload that as soon as I'm done.

Listen to the Podcast

It's quite a high level discussion aimed at start-up folk or anyone thinking about getting into the start-up space. For more detailed info, have a look at my slide deck: Lean Usability for Startups... Or get in touch for a chat :)
